Cantine Sima, that was the name given to the “bevariol” that is, the local alimentarista sold wines, cold cuts cheeses for local people and where Venetians could take advantage of the wine stop.
Today, the same place is called Osteria Ai Assassini and is located in the heart of Venice, in the sestiere of San Marco.
Osteria derives from Oste, reminiscent of hospitality; in the past, osterias were inns where you could find lodging for the night and also find wine and cold cuts that the owners had on hand.
Excellent choice if you are looking for simple and genuine dishes, true to the regional cuisine of Veneto and a wide selection of wines.
